Beat Procrastination for Good

Project Overview

Challenge

For Rumie’s 3rd sprint, we focused on the “Young Transition” audience which are people between 16-22 years old. So we centered learning experiences around subjects like exploring career paths, workforce readiness, and will might pursue post-secondary education.

We also tried out a new format for Bytes (short learning experience) that included more Memes and GIFs.

Solution

People of all ages struggle with putting off important tasks for various reasons like fear, anxiety, or lack of concrete goals. But as teens grow into young adults, they take on more responsibilities. This can be really overwhelming!  That’s why  I decided to make a Byte on how to avoid procrastinating all together.

Results

We were encouraged to keep Bytes short and concise for this sprint. Yet, every part of the Byte has either a GIF or meme to help learners stay engaged and to add a touch of humor.

Each step in the Byte focused on simple strategies anyone can implement to prevent procrastination. But having healthy, realistic reasons for completing tasks is one of the key ways to preventing procrastination. So I made sure to include a quiz question that addressed this in a real life situation.

Every Byte ends with a call to action. So I ask learners to reflect on why they’re procrastinating since it begins in the mind. Then I encourage them to use the strategies I covered to help them tackle unfinished tasks.
